Amenities

When
you stay with us in Our Family Reunion
House or our Lakehouses,
you'll receive all of the amenities that our lakefront resort has to
offer: a beautiful sugar sand beach - level, with no steps, clean,
sandy bottom free of weeds, mud and sudden drop offs, level, grassy
courtyard, beach-side picnic tables, grills, fireplace and lounge
chairs, docks, fishing boats, game room, toys, canoes,
kayaks and pedalboats, basketball, bocce,
croquet, badminton. We also have pontoon and motor rentals.
FOR
OUR
YOUNGER
GUESTS
Arrangements for babysitters can also be made
by contacting the Grand View Lodge front desk. Local activities
normally include nature walks, turtle and duck races, craft projects,
jewelry-making, story-telling and outdoor games that provide proud
parents with great photo opportunities. And for rainy days (yes, we
admit to having some) our guests have use of our air-conditioned game
room with ping-pong, pool table, basket-shooting,
coin-op arcade games and table games like carom, checkers and puzzles.
FOR
THE
SPORTS-MINDED
In addition to the on-premises activities and sports listed above, we
offer free use of our bicycles on the nearby Paul Bunyan Trail
(it's 14 feet wide and black-topped for over 50 miles). We allow jet
skis and water skiing from our beach, and can make arrangements for
renting ski boats, skis, personal watercraft and similar equipment
upon request. There are four golf courses
within fifteen minutes, which extend discounts to our guests. Hiking
trails, canoeing routes, swimming areas, Mississippi River
cruising and Brainerd International Raceway are all within a
few miles of our resort. Whatever your idea of a vacation, you'll find
it all here.
FOR
THE FISHING
LOVERS
Gull Lake offers big-time walleye and northern fishing
as well as off-the-dock pan fishing. Our guests will see maps of the
Gull Lake Chain, a copy of lake regulations, tips on fishing holes,
information on feeding times and some idea of which baits they're
hitting on. If you would like us to arrange for a rental motor for use
with your free 14-foot boat, please let us know and we'll do our best.
We'll also direct you to fishing guides known to us to be
knowledgeable. Finally, we provide our fishermen with a fish cleaning
house complete with stainless steel sink, weigh-in scale and freezer
for entrails. We remind you that the part of Gull Lake in front of our
beach is where the $100,000 ice fishing contest is held each January.
It's got to be good to host that kind of fishing tournament!
A GREAT
LAKE
TO
PLAY
IN
The Gull Lake Chain of 7
lakes, with miles and miles of shoreline, is justly famous as one of
the finest lakes in the entire upper Midwest. Boat to your heart's
content. Explore coves and bays, cruise to any of the waterside
restaurants, or just sightsee the homes along the shoreline. Water ski
for miles. Feel the wind in your hair. Go sightseeing with friends on
one of Grand View Lodge's rentable pontoon boats. Spend half a day on
it and you'll get memories you'll never forget.
IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN BOAT(S)
OR RENT ONE LOCALLY
Boats may be launched at a concrete DNR ramp one block away. Boat
lifts are available to rent for $25 per day. We recommend guests reserve
these at the time of their reservation as we have a limited number
available. All lake regulations, resort rules, and boating laws must be
observed. New MN State rules require that all boats and jet skis
observe a no-wake area within 150 feet of the end of any dock, beach,
raft, or anchored boat. Our guests are responsible for any damages to,
or swamping of, any boats as well as for damage by their boats to
other boats or to the docks. If you love the lakes, you'll love Bay
Colony Inn Resort.
